The Story of Beowulf

The new Beowulf coin is based on an old English poem written between the 8th and 11th centuries. The story of the intrepid warrior who later became king combines fable with history to create a legendary folk hero. The third coin depicts Beowulf and his adversary, the fiery dragon. David Lawrence, who designed this coin, sketched a thrilling battle between these two heroes. The "Myths and Legends" series is now a very competitive and universally popular coin, as everyone knows the myths of these heroes and the designs are very recognizable.
