Jules Verne - 1 Oz - Silver Collector Coin

Introducing the fifth coin in the "Art of the Pen" series.

On the front of this coin, which depicts Jules Verne and his worldly works, the author plays the role of a magician who reveals all his inventions and ideas from his top hat. References to From the Earth to the Moon, Around the Moon, Five Weeks in a Balloon, Around the World in Eighty Days, The Mysterious Island, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and Journey to the Center of the Earth intertwine to create an overall picture of extraordinary journeys. To the left of the portrait is the author's name, dates and year.

The reverse is common to the entire Art of the Pen series. Several iconic quotes can be read here, including Voltaire's 'Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien', Dante Alighieri's 'Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch'intrate ', William Shakespeare's 'To be or not to be: that is the question' and Nietzsche's 'Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich starker'. The coin is engraved with a feather in the centre and the name of the series below it. At the bottom of the coin is the abbreviation RF, the hallmark of Joaquin Jimenez and the engraver's workshop.
