Silver Maple Leaf Series
Silver Maple Leaf coins are renowned for their high silver content with a purity of .9999. The rich content of precious silver in these maple leaves is enhanced by a lustrous finish, making these Canadian coins very attractive to the eye. The distinctive Privy Mark, featuring a maple leaf motif, was first used on this series in 1988. Various commemorative editions have featured different designs over time, but the Canadian maple leaf has always remained the central element.
Security Features of the Royal Canadian Mint
Since 2015, The Royal Canadian Mint’s Bullion DNA program has offered the highest level of security available for bullion coins. Each bullion coin features a textured maple leaf security mark engraved using laser technology, which is visible only under magnification, along with two digits representing the coin’s year of issue engraved into the maple leaf security mark. The security mark can be easily scanned with a decoding device to verify its authenticity. MINTSHIEL Surface Protection, the world’s only proven technique for significantly reducing the occurrence of white spots—or “milky spots”—on silver coins, is now featured on every 2019 Maple Leaf silver coin and newer issues.
Royal Canadian Mint
Mints coins made of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, known as Maple Leaf coins. The Royal Canadian Mint’s headquarters are located in a historic building in downtown Ottawa. The mint was founded in 1908. It produces commemorative coins, bullion coins, and medals. A second production facility, located in a modern building in Winnipeg, Canada, produces Canadian circulation coins. These are minted in series numbering in the billions.
